The CMDA Foundation Dog Registration is a way to link early generational lineages, and to introduce outcrosses, unproven, and/or unregistered breeding dogs into the CMD Registry. This option encourages a balance of hybrid vigor through the outcrossing of genetics, while still maintaining the characteristics established by the Breed Standards. New applications will only be considered until the breed is well-established. If your dog is from CMDA registered parents, use the Puppy and Dog Registration Application.
A Foundation Dog is a dog:
Criteria for registering a foundation dog is more involved than a typical CMD registration, as dogs must meet physical and disposition criteria. The CMDA reserves the right to accept or deny any registration. Spayed/neutered dogs may also be registered in order for a current member to link that dog back to a particular CMD lineage.

Step 3: Submit photos of your dog, standing, from each side, front, and back, as well as 2 photos of your dog with its livestock. Photos can be e-mailed to the registrar or mailed to the CMDA for approval.
